Wings of Change Collaborates with Ava Milanowski for Girl Scout Gold Award Project
We are thrilled to have mentored Ava Milanowski for her Girl Scout Gold Award Project. Ava worked closely with us to promote the crucial role of butterflies in our ecosystem. For her project, Ava generously donated over $800 to Paloma Elementary, her alma mater. These treasures were collected during her explorations in the world of Girl Scouts. She spent over 100 hours preparing for the project and created three interactive activities to teach the students about butterfly migration, the butterfly life cycle, and how to plant seeds to support butterfly habitats. With the support of school volunteers, Ava was able to effect meaningful change within the community and inspire the students to learn, grow, and effect change themselves. At Wings of Change, we believe in empowering young people to make a difference. Ava is a shining example of what can be achieved with hard work, passion, and dedication. Ava’s Comments on the project:
A nostalgic being that lives on and continues to pave the way of the health and well being of our beautiful planet. Butterflies seem but a frilly, floating fabric that bounces playfully through our backyards yet they impact more than we could repay. I find that these fascinating creatures fall into the back of our minds which is why I have collaborated with the Wings of Change to give butterflies the recognition and protection that they deserve.
For my Girl Scout Award, I have developed a curriculum to teach elementary students about butterflies, their amazing abilities to grow and transform and how they too can contribute to the well being of our planet. I found it most rewarding when I saw the kids laughing and having a good time learning from a curriculum that I had created! I want to spread this valuable information with the world which is why I have added a link to my curriculum so that you can learn as well as be a part of a fun learning experience!
