Wings of Change

Wings of Change is spreading the word about the importance of butterflies and pollinators worldwide. We educate the community about how butterflies affect everything, including fire safety, drought tolerance, and our health.

Wings of Change chosen as Girl Scout Gold Award project advisor for Ava Milanowski.

Project: “Turning our World into a Butterfly Habitat” “
I aspire to teach the world, especially the youth about butterflies and how they can make an impact just by planting seeds in their own gardens. I hope to spark a love for nature and more mindfulness on how we contribute to natures well being. My goal is to teach classes, held in May, and ask students what they have taken from our time together as well as how they will continue to show empathy for nature throughout their lives. I will be hoping for inspired and excited answers from my participants showing that they will continue to do their part making our world a butterfly safe environment. My goal is to be completed with my entire project in the beginning of summer, June 4th, 2023.”

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the most prestigious award in Girl Scouting.

Wings of Change is thrilled, honored, and excited to join Ava on her journey to the Girl Scout Gold Award! The Girl Scout Gold Award is the most prestigious award in Girl Scouting. Look for some exciting new projects at Paloma Elementary School in San Marcos, CA. It is so humbling to be chosen to lead such an endeavor, thanks for allowing us the opportunity to share in the experience. Together we will LEARN, GROW and CHANGE. WE are Wings of Change.

Those that earn the Girl Scout Gold Award are rock stars, role models, and real-life heroes. How do they do it? By using everything they’ve learned as a Girl Scout to help fix a problem in their community or make a lasting change in their world. And you don’t have to be a seasoned activist or star student to get there. Girl Scouts who want to get involved and go for the Gold Award get a team of trusted adults and leaders in their community to guide them through challenges and lead them to success, step-by-step. There’s no other program like it, and according to Ava herself it’s much harder than other projects in similar organizations.

Ava would like to inspire everyone to turn their home gardens into habitats. We will achieve this by researching butterflies, their habitat and then creating an informative presentation to teach our community to be Wings of Change with us. These presentations will be perfect for sharing on Wings of Change website and blogs, social media, and presenting at local communities. We will offer in person and online events with links that will direct viewers to a brief summary of the curriculum. Some will include directions on how to create their own butterfly crafts and gardens at home.

Ava’s Girl Scout Gold Award is addressing the issue of:

“With the digital age, we all seem to brush by nature and not take a close look as to what’s truly happening. Butterflies are a beneficial creature to us and our gardens which often goes unnoticed. My goal is to help butterflies by spreading information on these beautiful creatures, and their many upsides, to a generation that can truly make a difference and be impacted at a young age. I will design a curriculum with the help of and guidance of Stephanie from Wings of Change, to provide a fun and memorable learning experience for elementary kids.” To see Ava’s curriculum follow this link.
